Benefiting Shriners Hospitals for Children

Overview & Goals

THE PURPOSE

To have an exciting and fun event associated with the annual Shrine Bowl that:

• Raises additional funds for The Shrine Bowl and its charity, Shriners Hospitals for Children.  Current goal is $1,000
• Attracts enthusiastic bikers and auto clubs to the Shrine Bowl week-end.
• Provides another special interest event to the Shrine Bowl event lineup.

THE PLAN

To have paying [$10 per hand or 3 hands for $25] participants follow a route [about 60 miles] in and around the Shrine Bowl city and visit 5 stops where they will be provided with one-fifth of a poker hand at each stop.  The participants will meet at or following the last stop to study the poker hands of each participant and determine the winning hands.

THE POKER RUN COMMITTEE

A local area committee will be the main force behind the Poker Run.  The committee will consist of one to six members who are dedicated to the success of the event and helping to raise funds for Shriners Hospitals for Children.  Their tasks and responsibilities are:

• Help the KSB Executive Director set a budget of trade sponsorships, cash sponsorships, expenses, and prizes.
• Determine the Route.
• Arrange locations for the start, 5 stops, and prize distribution.
• Arrange and organize volunteers.
• Help promote participation in the local areas.
• Help solicit sponsors, advertisers, and participants.

THE SHRINE BOWL OFFICE

The Shrine Bowl Office will be of active assistance to the committee.  Their duties and responsibilities are:

• Coordinate communications.
• Work with and facilitate the committee in every way possible.
• Create handouts and sponsorship sales materials.
• Provide insurance for the event.
• Provide portable P.A. for awards ceremony.
• Help recruit volunteers as needed
• Promote event with other Shrine Bowl events state-wide and on Web Page, Facebook, & Twitter.
