Shrine Bowl All Star Cross Country Camp

 

Purpose and Goals:

  • To raise funds for and awareness of Shriner Hospitals for Children.
  • To feature and publicize Kansas’ top Cross Country Athletes their sport, and their coaches.
  • To create interest and following of all Shrine Bowl Events.

The Cross Country race will feature team competition between east women & west women and team competition between east men & west men.  The race will be run in conjunction with, and on the same course as, the Open Charity 2Mile Race.

 

Administration:

                The Kansas Shrine Bowl will administer this event and related activities with assistance and cooperation from the Kansas Track & Field Coaches Association.  The Advisory Board will consist of Mark Stanbrough, Rich Patton, Tony Bozarth, Mike Spillman, Garry Sigle, & Dave Mize.  Event Management will consist of the Executive Director of the Kansas Shrine Bowl, the Race Director and the Head Coach of the XC All-Stars.

 

Training Camp

ü  15 East All-Star Women, 15 West All-Star Women, 15 East All-Star Men, 15 West all-star Men, and 4 to 10 Coaches.

ü  All-Stars & Coaches report at 10 a.m. on Friday prior to the last Saturday in July.

ü  Camp concludes following half-time of the Shrine Bowl All-Star Football Game on the last Saturday in July.

ü  Planned Activities

o   Team & Coaching Orientation

o   Race Practice

o   Shrine Bowl Banquet

o   Shrine Bowl Parade

o   Special Activity

o   Race Preparations

o   Race [finishing on the stadium track during Shrine Bowl Pre-Game]

o   Awards

o   Introductions[during half-time of the football game]

ü  Camp site on campus of the University hosting the Shrine Bowl Football Game

ü  Participant responsible for running shoes, running shorts, and transportation to and from camp site.

ü  The Shrine Bowl and its sponsors are responsible for all other expenses including:

o   Friday night dorm room [double occupancy] with bedding and linens

o   Lunch Friday & Banquet Friday evening

o   Breakfast, Lunch, pre-race snacks, & post race refreshments on Saturday

o   Insurance, awards, race singlets & tee shirts

o   Any needed camp site transportation.
